Vi si accedeva attraverso un alto portale centinato, in arenaria, posto all'altezza del primo piano, costituito da una volta in tufo. Il castello fu infeudato fin dal Quattrocento alla potente famiglia Rangoni, che ne ha conservato la proprietà fino a tempi molto recenti. Donata al Comune di Zocca dagli stessi marchesi Rangoni, la torre è stata ora completamente restaurata.
